The TLC-50 Eco Series II is the manual-humidity model in the TLC-50 range. It gives you accurate, calibrated digital temperature control with high and low temperature alarms, and humidity is raised using the built-in water reservoir.
Tough, efficient, easily cleaned and quick to set up, the Brinsea TLC-50 Series II is ideal for newly hatched exotic chicks and for sick, injured or orphaned birds and mammals. It doubles as a hospital cage and a recovery incubator.
Altricial species of birds — including all parrots and birds of prey — are blind and helpless when they hatch, and it is some weeks before they can move around, control their body temperature and feed themselves. During this period the young birds need a clean, temperature-controlled environment. As they grow and develop down and feathers they tolerate lower temperatures, so the breeder needs to be able to reduce the chamber temperature easily while still maintaining control. Young birds also benefit from being able to see people from inside the chamber, which is essential if they are to be tame in adulthood.

Built to be cleaned
With hygiene a top priority, the TLC-50 has been designed to make cleaning as easy as possible. The lower half of the cabinet and doors are removable so they can be scrubbed and immersed, the high-gloss ABS upper cabinet wipes clean, and the fan guard detaches for access to the fan. The heater is encased in a metal tube and the control circuit is housed away from the chamber for reliability. Airflow is optimised so heat is distributed evenly at gentle air speeds, keeping down and dust from being blown around.
