See beyond.

The Origin Candlers show what others don’t. White light lets you see inside — veins, air cells, development. The Origin UV Candler lets you see beyond: hairline cracks, worn cuticle, contamination and freshness. Things a standard candler physically cannot show.

It is a dedicated 365nm UV-A inspection light. Seconds per egg. No cracking. No guessing at the shell.

Read this first. This is a UV-only torch. It does not produce white light and it is not a replacement for a standard candler. It’s the second tool — the one that answers the questions white light leaves open. If you need to see inside the egg, you want the Origin Candler.

What “see beyond” actually means

  • Hairline cracks — fine fractures fluoresce clearly, including ones you’d never find by eye or by feel. A cracked egg in the incubator is a bacterial bomb waiting to go off.
  • Shell quality — the cuticle, that protective bloom on a fresh egg, glows under UV. Patchy or worn cuticle tells you an egg is more vulnerable to infection before you set it.
  • Freshness — a fresh egg fluoresces brighter, usually pink to red. That fades with age, so you can sort a mixed basket in seconds.
  • Contamination — many bacteria and moulds fluoresce. Catching one egg before it goes in the tray can save the rest of the hatch.

Where it earns its keep

Most people use it twice. Once before setting, to cull cracked, dirty or poor-shelled eggs before they contaminate the incubator. Again on anything that looks suspicious mid-hatch. It’s also the fastest way to check shipped eggs for travel damage before you commit three weeks to them.

Safety — and why the glasses matter

365nm UV-A is almost invisible to the eye, so there’s no blink reflex to protect you. The UV safety glasses are included and should be worn whenever the torch is on.

They use a clear lens, not the amber tint most UV glasses use. Amber blocks the UV but washes out the colours you’re trying to read, which defeats the purpose. Clear protects your eyes without compromising what you see.

Never look directly into the beam. Don’t shine it at anyone. Supervise children using it.

Built for the job

  • 365nm UV-A LED — the correct wavelength for fluorescence. Cheaper 395nm torches emit mostly visible purple and reveal far less.
  • Aluminium body — built to be carried around a shed, not a lab.
  • Built-in charging — charge it directly by USB. No separate charger to lose.
  • Rechargeable 18650 battery — included.

What’s in the box

  • Origin UV Candler (built-in USB charging)
  • UV safety glasses with clear lens
  • 18650 rechargeable battery
  • USB cable
  • Presentation box

See inside. See beyond.

White light for the hatch. UV for the shell. The two tools answer different questions, and most serious hatchers end up wanting both — buy the pair as the Origin Candler Duo and save $17.

Part of the Origin Series. Designed by Uneek Poultry and backed with warranty and advice here in Australia. If it doesn’t carry the Origin mark, it isn’t one of ours.
